This evening, I was able to make good on a cancelled trip earlier in the season due to mechanical issues. It was the first time I ever had to do that, and I've felt horrible about it since. Thankfully, the fish have officially strapped the feed bags back on after the mayfly hatch. This crew boxed a boat limit in short order! The fishing was as hot as the weather today. This was a quick 5-hour trip. We came in one short of the 6-man boat limit, and they were big fish. Weighed in at 84 pounds on the scale at Al Szuch Live Bait. I only have a few openings left before these fish move on to the cooler waters east of here. A storm blew through last night, and the temperature dropped 20 degrees; apparently, the fishing cooled off quite a bit also. Today was a grind. We boxed 16 walleye this morning on a 5-hour trip, leaving us short 2 walleye of the customers' limit.

The afternoon trip today was more of the same as the morning trip. Despite the slow day, we still managed to put 14 walleye in the box, coming in 4 short of the customer's limit. It was nice having an enthusiastic youth onboard today. This young fisherman stayed engaged all afternoon without the help of any electronic devices

This morning, I had a couple from the Cincinnati area aboard for an old-fashioned barrel shoot. They hit the trifecta today: good weather, light winds, and hungry fish! We finished with the customers' limit, and the captain caught half of his limit, saving the other half for the afternoon trip.

This afternoon, I had the Mason family aboard for a perfect day on the lake. The fish remained hungry, allowing us to fill the cooler in a few hours. This weekend was a tale of two cities on both Saturday and Sunday. Despite my best efforts, both morning trips failed to produce. The evening trips were the exact opposite. Just when I think I have these fish figured out, they find a way to humble me. I suppose that’s why it’s called fishing!

I pulled the boat Saturday afternoon in order to get some much needed cleaning and maintenance done before I drag the boat to New York next weekend for a week of salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Today, I got the cabin detailed, a 2nd graph/screen installed, and the outside power washed before I called it quits for the night. Tomorrow evening I’ll work on detailing the exterior and getting the boat rigged for salmon fishing.

Mid-Week Update:
We arrived in Point Breeze on Sunday afternoon. After getting settled into our AirBnB we headed out for a couple hours in the evening for an evening shakedown. We finished with 3 decent Steelhead before pulling lines and heading back to port. Sunday morning was about as perfect as it can get. It took us a bit to find the fish, but once we did, it was chaos on the deck. We finished with 4 Kings and 8 Steelhead for a boat limit. We woke up Monday morning to some heavy winds and waves that were supposed to build as they day goes on. We headed out to see if we could make the best of the current conditions. We picked up 2 Kings before the waves and developing storms sent us seeking refuge back on land. Here it is Tuesday and looks as though the day is going to be a total loss due to wind and waves. Hopefully Mother Nature has better plans for tomorrow.

The day started out a little bumpy after yesterdays blow day. We went right back out to where we finished on Sunday and found a decent batch of fish. We finished the day 14 for 19 with 5 kings and 7 steelhead going into the cooler for another boat limit. We released 2 steelhead caught while clearing lines at the end of the day.

After a successful walleye trip in early August, Todd came back today to give perch fishing a try. These guys stayed on the rail all day, which paid off with 90 perch that weighed in at 26lbs. It was a very light bote with quite a few shorts that were theown backnti be caught another day. Blue perch fly rigs seemed to work best. We were north of the Toledo Harbor lighthouse in 21’ of water. I still have several days open in October. Haven’t posted much in a while, mostly because there hasn’t been much good to post. I had a perch trip on 9/27 I believe we caught a total of 28 yellow perch. I switched things up on 10/2 and chased walleye. The wind blew out of the east for two days prior to this trip, which I believe shutdown the bite, we finished with 1 walleye.

With perch catches still very hit or miss, today I opted once again to search for some walleye. We finished 5 short of a boat limit, but did manage to pick up a dozen perch and a couple cats for the customers.

Saturday morning I had a group of 4 from Southern Ohio out for a short trip. These guys were pretty hard core, staying on the rail all morning despite the wind and rain. Saturday afternoon had a couple of guys in from the Indianapolis area celebrating the birthday of their Father in law. The afternoon started out very slow, until we found an active group of fish in the last hour, boating an additional 14 fish for the cooler. Fishing in Lake Erie was an amazing experience where everyone had a blast catching walleye. The excitement was palpable as each of us successfully reeled in our own catch, adding to the day's thrill and enjoyment.

Went out on a family trip today. Of the three of us(one didn’t want to get out of bed), one of us caught our limit of perch. The other two caught half their fish. Nice grade of fish. 61 fish weighed in at 18.5lbs.
