The post-mayfly bite is back, and a full boat limit made for a memorable evening on Lake Erie.

This evening, I was able to make good on a cancelled trip earlier in the season due to mechanical issues. It was the first time I ever had to do that, and I've felt horrible about it since. Thankfully, the fish have officially strapped the feed bags back on after the mayfly hatch. This crew boxed a boat limit in short order! Don't miss your opportunity to enjoy some of Lake Erie's bounty. Shout out to Al Szuch Live Bait for sticking around to clean my customers fish

Nearly a full boat limit of big walleye made for an outstanding 5-hour trip.

The fishing was as hot as the weather today. This was a quick 5-hour trip. We came in one short of the 6-man boat limit, and they were big fish. Weighed in at 84 pounds on the scale at Al Szuch Live Bait. I only have a few openings left before these fish move on to the cooler waters east of here. Give me a call or send me a message to secure your day on the lake.

Cooler weather slowed the action, but 16 walleye still made it into the box.

A storm blew through last night, and the temperature dropped 20 degrees; apparently, the fishing cooled off quite a bit also. Today was a grind. We boxed 16 walleye this morning on a 5-hour trip, leaving us short 2 walleye of the customers' limit.

A slow bite still produced 14 walleye and a memorable afternoon on the water.

The afternoon trip today was more of the same as the morning trip. Despite the slow day, we still managed to put 14 walleye in the box, coming in 4 short of the customer's limit. It was nice having an enthusiastic youth onboard today. This young fisherman stayed engaged all afternoon without the help of any electronic devices

Great weather, hungry fish, and a full customer limit made for an outstanding trip.

This morning, I had a couple from the Cincinnati area aboard for an old-fashioned barrel shoot. They hit the trifecta today: good weather, light winds, and hungry fish! We finished with the customers' limit, and the captain caught half of his limit, saving the other half for the afternoon trip.

A great afternoon on the lake ended with happy anglers and a cooler full of fish.

This afternoon, I had the Mason family aboard for a perfect day on the lake. The fish remained hungry, allowing us to fill the cooler in a few hours. We finished the day with the customers' limit and the other half of the captain's limit. Thanks to Al Szuch Live Bait for ensuring a team member stayed late to clean the fish for my customers.

Slow morning bites gave way to productive evening trips in a weekend of changing conditions.

This weekend was a tale of two cities on both Saturday and Sunday. Despite my best efforts, both morning trips failed to produce. The evening trips were the exact opposite. Just when I think I have these fish figured out, they find a way to humble me. I suppose that’s why it’s called fishing!

Walleye are still biting, with yellow perch starting to show up as the season changes.

Walleye are still biting, though it appears the bite is starting to dwindle. Picking up a few incidental yellow perch as well. Hopefully the perch bite is better than last year.

I pulled the boat Saturday afternoon in order to get some much needed cleaning and maintenance done before I drag the boat to New York next weekend for a week of salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. Today, I got the cabin detailed, a 2nd graph/screen installed, and the outside power washed before I called it quits for the night. Tomorrow evening I’ll work on detailing the exterior and getting the boat rigged for salmon fishing.

Mid-Week Update:
We arrived in Point Breeze on Sunday afternoon. After getting settled into our AirBnB we headed out for a couple hours in the evening for an evening shakedown. We finished with 3 decent Steelhead before pulling lines and heading back to port. Sunday morning was about as perfect as it can get. It took us a bit to find the fish, but once we did, it was chaos on the deck. We finished with 4 Kings and 8 Steelhead for a boat limit. We woke up Monday morning to some heavy winds and waves that were supposed to build as they day goes on. We headed out to see if we could make the best of the current conditions. We picked up 2 Kings before the waves and developing storms sent us seeking refuge back on land. Here it is Tuesday and looks as though the day is going to be a total loss due to wind and waves. Hopefully Mother Nature has better plans for tomorrow.

Strong Start to Point Breeze, Now Waiting on Weather

The day started out a little bumpy after yesterdays blow day. We went right back out to where we finished on Sunday and found a decent batch of fish. We finished the day 14 for 19 with 5 kings and 7 steelhead going into the cooler for another boat limit. We released 2 steelhead caught while clearing lines at the end of the day.

After a successful walleye trip in early August, Todd came back today to give perch fishing a try. These guys stayed on the rail all day, which paid off with 90 perch that weighed in at 26lbs. It was a very light bote with quite a few shorts that were theown backnti be caught another day. Blue perch fly rigs seemed to work best. We were north of the Toledo Harbor lighthouse in 21’ of water. I still have several days open in October. Give me a call and shoot me a message if you’d like to secure your date to fish for some Lake Erie Gold!

Big Perch Day North of the Lighthouse

Haven’t posted much in a while, mostly because there hasn’t been much good to post. I had a perch trip on 9/27 I believe we caught a total of 28 yellow perch. I switched things up on 10/2 and chased walleye. The wind blew out of the east for two days prior to this trip, which I believe shutdown the bite, we finished with 1 walleye.

East Wind Struggles on the Bite

With perch catches still very hit or miss, today I opted once again to search for some walleye. We finished 5 short of a boat limit, but did manage to pick up a dozen perch and a couple cats for the customers.

Targeting Walleye Pays Off with a Mixed Bag

Kevin and their crew joined us for an early morning trip in fall with clear conditions throughout the day. Water conditions at Reno Beach were perfect for our planned fishing approach. We headed out with Reel Therapy Sportfishing ready to put our techniques to work.

We focused our efforts on bottom fishing and still fishing using bait fishing methods throughout the morning. Reno Beach provides excellent structure and depth variations that make these techniques highly effective for targeting fish in this area. Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Logan and their crew out for a 7 Hour June/July Trip – Walleye with Reel Therapy Sportfishing in Oregon, OH. We hit the water at Reno Beach on a summer afternoon, greeted by partly cloudy skies - perfect conditions for our adventure. The weather held up nicely throughout our time on the water, giving us a comfortable day to work with. As we set out from Reno Beach, I was eager to show the crew what Lake Erie had to offer. It's always a thrill to introduce anglers to the fantastic walleye fishing we have here in Oregon, OH.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business, employing a mix of techniques to target those walleye. We started off trolling, covering good ground and searching for active fish. As we moved along, we switched things up with some bottom fishing, trying to entice any walleye hanging out near the lake floor. We also did some casting, giving the crew a chance to work their own lures and feel for those signature walleye strikes. Throughout the trip, I made sure to share tips and tricks specific to each method, helping Logan and their crew get the most out of our time on the water.

While we didn't land any trophies on this run, the variety of techniques we used kept things interesting and gave everyone a well-rounded Lake Erie fishing experience. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, having enjoyed a great day out on the water despite the fish playing hard to get.

Lake Erie Walleye: Multi-Technique Trip from Reno Beach, Oregon

Action-packed day from the get-go! I took Jeff and their crew out for a 5-hour walleye trip on Reel Therapy Sportfishing in Oregon, OH this summer. We launched early in the morning, hitting the water around sunrise. The weather was partly cloudy with a chance of rain, but that didn't dampen our spirits as we headed out to Reno Beach. Water conditions were decent, and I was optimistic about our chances. With four anglers aboard, we had plenty of hands on deck to cover some ground and try different techniques. It's always a pleasure to guide folks on these waters, especially during the prime June/July season when the walleye fishing can really heat up. Reel Therapy Sportfishing is all about providing the best experience, and I was determined to make this trip live up to that promise.

With our gear rigged and ready, we started the day trolling, which is often productive for walleye in these parts. As we worked the area, I kept a close eye on the fish finder and adjusted our speed and depth to target the most promising spots. We mixed things up by switching to some bottom fishing techniques, dropping our lines to where I suspected the walleye might be holding. Later, we tried casting to cover more water and give the crew a chance to work different presentations. Despite our efforts and the variety of techniques we employed, the fish weren't cooperating as much as we'd hoped on this outing. But that's fishing – some days are slower than others, and it's all part of the experience.

Even though we didn't land any trophies this time, the crew stayed positive and enjoyed their time on the water. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, appreciating the day out on Lake Erie and the chance to hone our skills. These quieter days on the water can often teach us just as much as the ones where the fish are jumping in the boat.

If you're thinking about coming out for some walleye action in Oregon, OH, I'd love to have you aboard Reel Therapy Sportfishing. Our 5-hour June/July trips are a great way to experience the best of Lake Erie fishing. Whether you're an experienced angler or new to the sport, we've got the knowledge and equipment to give you a shot at some quality walleye. Plus, the views of Lake Erie and the camaraderie on board make for a memorable outing. Fast Limits and Family Time on Lake Erie

Saturday morning I had a group of 4 from Southern Ohio out for a short trip. These guys were pretty hard core, staying on the rail all morning despite the wind and rain. Saturday afternoon had a couple of guys in from the Indianapolis area celebrating the birthday of their Father in law. The afternoon started out very slow, until we found an active group of fish in the last hour, boating an additional 14 fish for the cooler. Now is the time to reserve your date on the lake this summer by giving me a call or shooting me a message at 419-367-7530.
